Scouting in Burton upon Trent
In Burton upon Trent we aim to provide
a full, fun and active Scouting programme of activities
for young people from the ages of six through to twenty-five.
The aim of Scouting is all about promoting
the development of young people in achieving their full
physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential,
as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members
of their local, national and international communities.
We achieve this through the attractive
scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise
and Law, the guidance of our adult leaders and having
Fun!
The Scout Movement
The Scout Movement Scouting is a worldwide
voluntary movement for young people. The Scout Movement
was founded in 1907 by Lord Robert Baden-Powell. In
the United Kingdom, the youth membership boys & girls,
aged between six and eighteen years is over half a million,
supported by 120,000 adults. The Movement now has over
26 million members worldwide, Scouting in over 200 countries.
With its sister movement, Girlguiding UK, Scouting represents
the largest youth organisation in the World.
All adults in Scouting work voluntarily
to fulfil the Aim of the Association.
Young People First - Yellow Card is given
to all leaders. It consists of a Code of Behaviour for
adults involved in Scouting.
Scouting is run by people who freely give
up their time to organise weekly activities for young

Helpers, Administrators, Committee Members, Fundraisers
and so on. All adults in the movement undergo training
